India's public infrastructure keeps failing. What should we fix — and how?

Make every public project outlive its ribbon-cutting. Tie 30% of a contractor's payment to a 5-year performance bond: if the hospital, bridge, or school develops structural faults within 5 years, they repair it free or forfeit the bond — and publish every inspection report online for anyone to see. Trade-off I'd accept: fewer flashy inauguration dates and slightly higher upfront bids, in exchange for not paying twice for the same collapsing building.
